| THSCC will be at the Danville Regional Airport for our 5th points event and co-chairs Jonathan Rodriguez and Michael Westerfield warn you to expect a course that maximizes speed on this open lot!
Warning: Danville Airport is an ACTIVE airport. That means some areas are off limits. Those areas will be clearly marked, and we are NOT permitted in any of those areas! Punishments are handed out by the local Airport Authorities and can be quite severe.
Entry limit for this event is 120.
Entrance: We will be using the small side entrance, so look for the usual pointer cones and Autocross Sign. The entrance is at the base of a very steep hill, so if you have an underpowered tow vehicle, this is your warning! Gate opens at 7:30.
Pit space will be VERY tight, so please make the extra effort to minimize the width of your pit area! If you have a trailer of any type, please try to park it on the grass next to your pit area to free up as much room as possible. The Airport Management has given us permission to park on the grass, so that should be a big help.
Sign the waiver! EVERYONE at the event, including visitors, must sign the insurance waiver upon arrival and wear a wristband. Lunch will NOT be available on site. Competitors should place the arm band on YOUR LEFT WRIST ONLY; not your right wrist, belt loop, or back of your hat. The Starter will want to see your arm band as you pull up to the line to make your first run. Without your arm band, neither you NOR your passenger will be allowed to run.
Water: Bring some; no, BRING LOTS. Don't ruin a fun day driving by getting dehydrated!!
Food: Lunch will NOT be available on site.
Be on your best behavior! We love Danville and we get to use it because of lots of hard work. We want to keep it available for the club. So be sure YOU and YOUR FRIENDS are on YOUR BEST BEHAVIOR when on the event site. This means no fast driving anywhere but the autocross course itself. Pick up your trash AND the trash of others. Your momma won't be there and, no, we don't have a clean-up crew!
General Info:
- Make sure you have your car properly marked and classed. See this link if you have any questions. Camouflage and no/low contrast letters/numbers will not be allowed; if you're wondering why, I'll let you borrow my book on how to read. If you don't have class letters and numbers that will be clearly visible by the bus and course workers, PRINT YOUR CLASS LETTERS AND NUMBER from here.
- Get to your worker station on time so we can keep this event running. If we finish early or on time, we may get fun runs!! (We'll have to check with the event's GMs at the event to see if we have time for fun runs.)
- Workers have to check in at the Work Coordinator's table in between heats in order to get credit for your runs. If you work but don't check in, your times are trashed and you'll receive a DNW for the event. :-(
Extra Info for Novices:
- Get to the site early!! You'll want to be there early enough to
• get your car emptied and teched, and
• get in several course walks before the Novice Meeting.
- Be at the 9:30am MANDATORY Novice Meeting on time.
Car Tech: Have your car ready to tech so you can run the event. The Starter WILL be checking to make sure you have a tech sticker. No techie, no runnie…
Run Groups: We plan to take runs in the normal 2 and 2 format. Hopefully there will be time for extra runs. Stock classes will run 1st and 3rd, Mod classes will run 2nd and 4th.
- Group 1 should grid cars BEFORE the driver's meeting.
- Remember to grid in lane A if you are working the following heat.
Team Challenge Rules:
- 5 members per team.
- Each team must have at least 1 female (may or may not be running LAD).
- Each team must have 1 FWD, 1 RWD, 1 AWD, and 1 car on street tires.
- A second car on street tires may be used in the place of a FWD, RWD, or AWD car.
- No team will be eligible to win both the Raw and PAX challenges. Each team will have to decide and declare before the event starts if they are going for the Raw Time win or the PAX Time win, in the event that the same team wins both.
- Each team member's fastest run of the day will be used in the calculation of his/her team's results.
#1 team Raw Time and #1 team PAX Time will each win something (we promise something good. :-)
