Event Chairs:
Chris Suich and Rodney Wright
Event Info:
Hello race fans and welcome to the kick off event for the
tarheel sports car club for 2007. The first points event autocross
is appropriately named “would like cones with that?”
Based on what I saw at the test and tune, there a lot of rust
out there and we’re going to start out slow and easy
to allow you to get back into the drivers seat….yeah
right.
Since the novice school is being held on Saturday the 10th,
Chris and I are trying to bring to the table a good mix of
elements for you to try at the first event. You’ll have
to go through the onion ring, the take out box and the milk
shake to name a few. We’ll also try to come up with
some pointless prize for the driver that takes out the most
cones just so that we can single you out after the event!
Food:
No food will be provided at the event, so be sure to bring
some food and drink to keep your body running during the day.
Trash…. Make sure you take your trash home and be good
person, if you some trash that’s not yours, pick it
up anyway and take it home.
General info:
- no wandering and exploring, stay with in the general area
of the autox event. We want to be able to come back and use
this venue
- get to your worker station on time so we can keep this event
running. If we finish early or on time, we may get fun runs!!
(Have to ask the GM’s to see if we can run though)
- workers have to check in at the work coordinators table
in between heats in order to get credit for your runs. If
you work but don’t check in, your times are trashed
and you’ll receive a DNW for the event.
- Make sure you have your car properly marked and classed.
See this link
if you have any questions.
- sign the waiver form and place the arm band on YOUR
LEFT WRIST ONLY. Not your right wrist, belt loop
or back of your hat. The starter will want to see your arm
band during the start of the day. Without the arm band,
you AND your passenger will not be allowed to run.
Car Tech:
- Have your car ready to tech so you can run the event. The
starter WILL be checking to make sure you have a tech sticker.
No techie, no runnie…
- If you plan on running all year long with the club (and
we hope you are), now would be a good time to have your car
teched for the year. Print out
this form
and bring it to the
event. This has the potential to be busy, so have your car
ready and go to the tech area early. This is very popular
during the first 2 events for the year.
Entrance:
We will the use the
Golden Knights
entrance to the L’burg event.
Run Groups:
- Run order: G1-G2-G1-G2
- Group 1 = Stock, TIR, and X -- including NOV and LAD entries
in those classes.
- Group 2 = everyone else
- Group 1 should grid cars BEFORE the driver's meeting.
- Remember to grid in lane A if you are working Heat 2.
Hotel:
Reports as of 3/5 are that the Hampton Inn is full. Jameson Inn may have a few
rooms left. Scotland Inn unknown, but they're not a bad choice and they usually
fill up last.
