Our last trip to Laurinburg for this year should make your cheeks hurt from
all that grinning... Give two Corvette guys a mile of concrete
to play on and there's no telling what will happen! But whatever
it is, it should be fun. Sure sounds like "Double Trouble"
to me. The Burger Team of Brenda and Christine will return
to serve up wonderful yummies during lunch. We'll be using
the standard schedule and the Golden Knight's entrance on
Sunday.
Just a few notes, especially for novices and non-club members that
aren't familiar with our way of doing things. By the way, if you are an
experienced club member that has invited a friend or family... please
forward this information to them and educate them on how to behave at an
autocross site. We expect spectators to behave themselves too.
- The site is in the middle of nowhere. Get all your gas, snacks, water,
air, etc. well before you get to the site.
- It is best if you get there early and plan to stay there until the
event is over.
- ABSOLUTELY NO DRAG RACING, tire warming, brake testing or fast driving
ANYWHERE on the site.
- No smokey burnouts or donuts are allowed on the course or anywhere
else for that matter.
- Reckless driving or dangerous behavior will get you EJECTED from this
event and you will be told to NOT come back.
- Pit speed is 5 mph or roughly walking speed. Lots of kids, dogs,
people and so forth are very close to you. Be careful!
- Speed limit everywhere else on site is 35 mph.
- Please, please, clean up your trash, and even that of your neighbor.
- If you brought it with you, you can take it back with you. Take your
trash home with you and do not leave it on site.
- ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED ON SITE.
- No overnight camping will be allowed on site.
- ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLORING ON SITE!! STAY IN THE DESIGNATED AREAS!
(This is important. Armed security guards patrol this facility. You
don't want to be caught snooping around an active airport!
Doing so would get you in big trouble, and probably cause us to lose
access to the site. Please behave yourself.)
Novices should read up on autocrossing before the event. Go to

at Hill Creek Road, here are alternate directions:

- Follow Hickman Rd 0.5 miles to a Y-intersection.
- The "Burch Industries" entrance is just past the buildings on your left about a mile after the Y-intersection.
- Look for a sign or traffic cone marking the entrance.
NOTE: From Raleigh, you can also take I-40
to I-95 South, then take Exit 14, Hwy 74 West until you get
to the Airport Road Exit. Then follow the directions above
to the Burch Industries entrance.
We have secured the Hampton Inn (same one we used for the 40th anniversary event).
We have a corporate rate available at $62/day for a double and $65/day for a king.
A block of rooms has been locked for Friday and Saturday night. The room type is first
come first serve. There are currently about 40-45 rooms available at the hotel.
So don't delay making your reservations. You are allowed to have more than 2 people
per room at no extra charge. Our corporate code is THSCC. If you tell the folks at
the desk you're with the "Sports Car Club" they will know who you are. Our
confirmation number is 88271091. This is for everyone.
Call the hotel directly to make your reservations. 910-277-1516.
Now come on out and have fun. The weather should be cooler and nice
than in July! Now we just have to hope the hurricanes stay away that
weekend!
